 Palm down...let the Tiki begin. "Your an artist? Do you ever carve things?" Asked my children's orthodontics. Yes, and yes that is one of my favorite things to do. I first started doing bone carvings when I was 16. Then I stepped up my game. My parents had a dying palm tree and my dad had a chain saw. The three of us, palm tree, chain saw and me, had quite a great time and we ended up with a pretty cool Tiki that greeted our guests for years to come. When I was presented with another opportunity to make a Tiki, to say I was pretty excited is an understatement. Follow along as we capture some of the process. Chip'n and Carv'n  The carving of the Tiki was no problem, I had it all worked out in my head from the start. The real challenge was how was I going to make metal braces for my new carved friend. After much pondering I decided to buy wire rope clips and attached them to metal wire. I think the braces are going to work out great for the Tiki, teeth are going to stay straight! The Orthodontics loved them.  Stained and ready for hair!

I really enjoyed reading this article because it was fun, creative, and made me feel excited about art in a new way. I think it’s amazing how the author turned a dying palm tree into a cool Tiki carving, and the way they added braces was super clever and funny. It showed me that art can be made from anything, even trees and wire clips, and that thinking outside the box can make a project even better. I liked how the author shared their personal story and showed pictures too—it made me feel like I was part of the process.
