Ole's is not something I expected to find in a town of 600+. A man known by Ole, in the 1940 started going on Safari's all around the world and hunted game. He has over 200 mounts in this restaurant. It made me a little sad to see, however Sam the waitress said he donated all the meat to the local people, so I felt a little better. But do people eat giraffe and elephant? I don't know. I do know that Sam the waitress who showed us around and the Lierleys (patrons who frequent the restaurant and knew Ole before he passed) were some of the nicest people. Fred Lierley got a globe and showed the children where certain countries were and then told us fascinating stories of Ole's travel. One that I really enjoyed was when Ole got abandoned by his guide by a river in Belize (then a British Colony). Left with nothing but what he had on him, he traded his watch to men of a native tribe, and they took him back to their village and took care of him for a week before some missionaries rescued him. He then went back out with a different guide. Check out the Jackalope. People say they are mythical but we have the proof they are real!!!!
