Rain Pants...Do They Really Keep You Dry?

Growing up in the desert, rain is something that happens infrequently. To my knowledge I never had a raincoat, never needed a raincoat. We would have umbrellas, and for some odd reason, they were always broken whenever we really needed them, which we rarely did, so how did they get broken. It could have something to do with playing Mary Poppins, I don't know. On our way from Seattle to Olympic Park I had a thought that since we were going to the rain forest we should get rain boots and raincoats. We were able to pick some for me and the younger kids at a second hand store ( My cousin Debi, thank you Debi!!!!) Garron took other kids to Walmart. When they got back to the RV, Sterling's Coat came with a pair of PANTS!!!!!!
Never have I heard of Rain pants. It was the funniest thing to me. So our first stop at Olympic National Park was Cresent Lake. I got the idea in my head that if I put Sterling's raincoat and rain pants on and then put hair twisties at the end of each arm and leg so it would cut off the opening I could jump in the lake and stay dry. The Guy said no way, you are crazy. Now the one thing that could make it not work is there are two holes in the back of the jackets covered by a flap, which by the way doesn't make sense to me. What are the purpose for the holes. Ashton and Lexi had them too. I didn't have anything to seal the holes with, however I thought with a life jacket on maybe it would press hard enough for that area. Anyway the following video is of my experiment. Does it work???? Well you will have to watch and see. Warning: This is me without a shower for forever, no make up, a little dehydrated, so it might be scary.
