To Smell or Not to Smell, and Why We Love the Millionaire's Club

Let's get real, as mom sometimes there are days where a shower just doesn't happen.  When you are road tripping in a small RV with a family 8,  those days turn into daysssssssss.  Our RV only holds so much water, A day of showers would mean a week without water, no toilet, no doing dishes, no brushing teeth.  So we have to get creative on keeping clean.  Hence we made a little tutorial for you RV newbies. 

Finding ways to shower is seriously a difficult thing,  It got us thinking what do homeless people do to take showers.  We have a lot of questions about the homeless, and in Seattle we found some answers...at the Millionaire's Club

What do you do when you want to work, but can’t see very well and need glasses, however you don’t have money for an eye doctor or glasses? What about wanting to go on a job interview but don’t have any place to take a shower (we know the shower dilemma quite well, when RV’ing with a family of 8 that is one of the challenges). What about not having clean clothes and not having money for a laundry mat. Well if you are in Seattle you can head over to the Millionaire Club, they have showers, laundromat and an eye specialist and glasses.
The Millionaire Club, is an organization that is over 100 years old. We were able to volunteer at this great place and were impressed with their philosophy. They said people don’t want a hand out they want a hand up.
The Millionaire Club also has a job placement program and pays for them to get their food handlers license and does job training. They also provide breakfast and lunch to anyone in the community and also a sack lunch to those that are going to work. They have a water garden in the basement which was way cool to see. Sterling, Lexi, Ashton and Garron were able to serve over 200 lunches today, and Presley, Dagen, Davin and Dena put together over 50 goodie bags for the Millionaire Club award banquet.
One thing that we thought was really great and wish we were here for is their Thanksgiving. They prepare thanksgiving meals, then families come and get them, and drive to an elderly persons home who will be by themselves and have dinner with them. What a special service that brings such great joy. I’m thinking that we might do this where ever we are for Thanksgiving.
